We may snicker about all the whines and complaints of "Snowpocalypse", but in warmer climes where snow is really unusual it presents difficult challenges. There hasn't been snow in Egypt for 112 years! It's not really funny to be honest though. Reuters reports:

"Biting cold and heavy rain beset Zaatari camp, which houses 80,000 of Jordan's more than half a million Syrian refugees. Among them was Khalil Atma from Sanameen in southern Syria who was shivering with his two daughters in a flooded, unheated trailer.

" 'We have come from one tragedy to another,' he said.

"Aid agencies say they are working around the clock to evacuate refugees from flooded camps and distribute food, supplies and clothing, but cannot keep up with demand."

The King of Jordan, Abdullah, isn't taking things lightly. While out surveying the snow from his personal Lexus LX SUV, he came across a citizen who was stuck in the snow. The King hopped out and helped push the car out and get it on its way. The King was clearly delighted to help. Comments on an article in the Jordan Times were very positive:

It is pretty damn awesome that the king just jumped out and helped a random citizen like that

No sweat. Proofing is something I do. It would be nice if the spell check worked on headline text.

Amen! My wife always wants to proof my stuff, but I'm always in too much of a hurry!! Part of doing Oppo for me is improving my writing. I write a lot for work, but this helps keep me sharp.

I agree. Definitely seems like that'd probably be one of the more "down to earth" Kings one would run across.

Abdullah of Jordan is a better leader than 95% of democratically elected Western heads of state.
Not that I think monarchy is the way to go, I'm just praising the man.

I didn't say it didn't snow there, did I? My relative in Cairo sure as shit think it snowed.

I'm just saying, the picture of the pyramids covered in snow is a fake.

I lived in Heliopolis. I'm pretty sure all my relatives there still live in that general vicinity.
